One Night Only is an evening of sketch comedy written, performed, and directed by YOU!
Ever wanted to be on Saturday Night Live? MadTV? Second City? Now is your chance to try it out. Under the guidance of Charlotte T. Martin, you and your collaborators will brainstorm ideas for sketches, draft and polish enough sketches for a whole show, and get it on its feet...in just 72 hours. That’s right: this show is just three days of your time. Here’s how it’ll work:
On THURSDAY, MARCH 3, we will meet in the Black Box to watch our favorite sketches from shows like SNL, MadTV, I Think You Should Leave, and other sketch favorites. Everybody (cast, crew, and writers) will brainstorm a list of Things That Are Funny, and writers will decide what they want to write about. (4:00p - 6:00p)
On FRIDAY, MARCH 4, we’re pulling an all-nighter y’all. (Sort of. You’ll go home around 8:00p). Writers will have time to draft and workshop their sketches with the actors in the room, getting notes and prompts from Charlotte as they need them. This is your time to make your work the best it can be! (Dinner is on us so you can keep working!) (4:00p - 8:00p)
On SATURDAY, MARCH 5, we’ll meet around 11:00a and polish up those sketches. Last-minute writing tweaks, memorization, blocking, etc. We’ll establish a running order for the show and source all the costume and prop pieces we may need. After a break for lunch at 3:00p, we’ll run through the whole show a couple of times before breaking again for dinner at 6:00. Curtain goes up at 7:30, and just like the name suggests: its a one-night-only show. (11:00a - 8:30p)
PLEASE NOTE:
